It's almost summer and a great time to gather at the Discovery Center. Bring a beverage or snack to share or just come by to talk issues and write postcards to your elected representatives -- we'll have the addresses, stamp and some scripts. Wednesday, June 10, at Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center. Park on blacktop or adjacent gravel area. Enter through the lobby and follow the signs.
This is a very easy event to attend, especially if you can talk and write at the same time! Register here, or just show up. Contact Chris Harris for more information or to RSVP: membershipdirector@lwvncsd.org -- (760) 415-8544
Why write a postcard - it does sound so 20th Century, doesn't it? We can call and send emails, but postcards have visual Impact. Unlike crowded email inboxes or busy phone lines, a postcard sits directly on a staffer's or politician's desk.
A large number of postcards is physically undeniable and visually shows localized support or opposition. Postcards are easy to read, so our messages need to be concise. Then politicians and their aides can read the core message and the constituent's zip code in mere seconds.
Save room on your card to write your full name and address! These postcards are from us as private citizens, not as League members. We'll have representatives' addresses, script ideas and stamps ready to go!
