About this event

The Tijuana River remains the most polluted watershed in the United States, driving over 1,000 consecutive days of beach closures at Imperial Beach as of September 2024 and threatening public health across the South Bay region.

Join LWVNCSD's Social & Environmental Action Committee (SEAC) and Water Interest Group for a Coastkeeper presentation examining this ongoing bi-national crisis — from contaminated beaches and aerosolized sewage affecting residential air quality, to impacts on Border Patrol agents, Navy SEALs, and first responders who work along the river.

Learn how San Diego County, the EPA, and the International Boundary & Water Commission are working toward solutions, and how the Tijuana River Coalition — of which LWV San Diego is a member — is advocating for clean water, clean air, and equitable access to our shared outdoor spaces.

The League of Women Voters of North County San Diego is a 501(c)(3) organization under the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent permissible under law. Our federal tax ID is 95-3389795
