September 18, 12:20-2:30
Special Webinar at the Carlsbad Unit Meeting
Leucadia Wastewater District Office, 1960 La Costa Ave, Carlsbad
The Carlsbad Unit will meet at 12:30-2:30, a new time to accommodate a webinar "The Challenges to Voting Rights" that will take place 1-2:30. We will have unit business from 12:30-1, then watch the zoom webinar on the big screen with popcorn and snacks.
The Challenges to Voting Rights
Join us for an illuminating program on the history of the woman’s suffrage movement and how it inspired the production of the Broadway musical SUFFs, followed by a conversation about the SAVE Act, what it is and how its passage would challenge the right to vote for many Americans. Contra Costa Librarian, Alison Peters, will moderate the discussion. Panelists are LWVUS President Dianna Wynn and Rachel Sussman, lead producer of Suffs. Senator Alex Padilla has been invited.
There is no registration for the second event. Please check the Events Calendar for zoom link if you can't attend in person.
