EMPOWERING VOTERS
DEFENDING DEMOCRACY

Dear ~~first_name~~,

I want to let you know about important work the League of Women Voters has been doing recently.

On April 17, LWVUS issued a statement:
"It has now been 87 days since the start of the Trump administration. From the flagrant disregard for congressional authority and government checks and balances to defying Supreme Court orders to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back home, one thing is abundantly clear: our country is in a constitutional crisis."

The LWVUS declaration was then highlighted in this April 18 PBS News report clip with New York Times columnist David Brooks and Washington Post associate editor Jonathan Capehart joining host William Brangham, in which Jonathan Capehart states, "I am glad you read that, because I was shaking, I was nodding in agreement with the League of Women Voters."

In addition, on April 9, LWVUS joined a statement opposing the EPA deregulation plan eliminating air quality standards for smog, soot, and mercury, and limits on carbon pollution and coal waste.

Also, a reminder that we are meeting this Saturday, April 26 for our own local Program Planning. Bring a reusable mug for your coffee or tea and join us for lively conversation and a sweet treat from 9:30 - 11:30am at the Pine Avenue Community Center, 3209 Harding St, Carlsbad, CA 92008.

I look forward to seeing you!
