San Diego County Board of Supervisors
OPPOSE 3/11/25 Item #9: Ending Super Sanctuary County Status By Repealing Board Policy L-2
Ecomment link:
The League of Women Voters of North County San Diego strongly supports a criminal justice system that is just, effective, equitable, transparent, and that fosters public trust at all stages. The League also supports due process for all persons, including the right to a fair hearing, right to counsel, right of appeal and right to humane treatment.
We oppose repealing our sanctuary policy. State and federal laws allow local governments to prioritize serving their residents instead of expending resources through collaborating with ICE. Our current sanctuary policy affirms our commitment to supporting our immigrant communities and ensures our resources are not used to aid the federal government’s mass deportation agenda. Repealing this policy would betray our values, roll back our hard-fought progress, and harm our border county.

Zoom Testimony by Kim Knox:
Good afternoon supervisors. I’m Kim Knox, president of the League of Women Voters of San Diego. Today I’m also representing the League of Women Voters of North County San Diego. The League strongly supports a criminal justice system that is just, effective, equitable, transparent, and that fosters public trust at all stages.
Thank you.
